Our CEO, Emilia Repo, is the leading force behind Fox International Consulting. Let’s get up close and personal!
What do you do at FoxICon?
I do quite a bit. I’m responsible for marketing, pedagogy, translation, and content creation.
What is your background?
I’ve gone through an international education journey. I received my comprehensive education in Finland. Then, I completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in the UAE. After high school, I did my MA in English at University of Aberdeen, and I’ve stayed there. I’m soon to complete my PhD in Aberdeen. Work-wise, I have always been intrigued by teaching, probably because of my parents, who are both educators. I have worked in many different positions in education, including classroom teaching and content creation.
What inspires you?
Since moving abroad, I have been inspired by other cultures and different ways of tackling obstacles. Finding new points-of-view has opened my mind to new ideas. This cross-cultural collaboration is one of the driving forces behind my work in education – I want to be a part of the movement towards international cooperation between educators.
What do you do outside of work?
Most of my time away from work is spent on working on my PhD. However, when I do wind down, I spend quality time with my family and our lovely dog, Orwell. I also enjoy art, looking at it, listening to it, and making it myself.
Name three values that drive you.
Curiosity, respect, and integrity.
What is your favourite book?
1984 by George Orwell. Yes, we named our dog after him!
What is your favourite thing about education?
The best thing is seeing students explore the world around them and finding moments of realisation. There’s nothing better than watching a child go through a thought process and arrive at a conclusion. The moment when the lightbulb is lit… There’s nothing quite like the joy of learning!
